Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League: Always-Online Gameplay Confirmed, Even in Single-Player Mode

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, the co-op looter-shooter set in the Batman: Arkham universe, has generated high anticipation since Rocksteady Studios unveiled the first gameplay footage during Sony's State of Play presentation. However, fans eager to play the game may be disappointed to learn that an internet connection is required, even when playing alone.

Here are some key points about the game's online requirements and features:

An internet connection is required to play Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League solo or via online co-op, according to the game's website FAQ.

Local co-op will not be supported, meaning that the game won't be playable offline in any capacity.

The always-online setup can likely be attributed to the nature of the game's cross-platform co-op system, which allows players to drop in and out of missions alongside other players across PS5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is a live-service game with a "gear score" and a battle pass offering items for character customization. Microtransactions will only be for cosmetic items and will be optional.

Similar to other recent games like Gotham Knights, Monster Hunter Rise, Marvel's Avengers, and Redfall, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League requires a persistent online connection to play.

Console players will be able to play the game solo without a subscription to PlayStation Plus or Xbox Live Gold, but a subscription will be required to play via online co-op.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League puts players in the role of DC Comics antiheroes Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Captain Boomerang, and King Shark as they battle to save the city of Metropolis and the world from Brainiac mind-controlled members of the Justice League.

The game will mark the final appearance of Kevin Conroy as the voice of Batman and is the first entry in the Batman: Arkham series since 2015's Batman: Arkham Knight.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is set to release on May 26 for PS5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X.
